A few shots of summer

The following are random shots of summer events-it sure did fly by fast! Hitting off the tee (or baseball in general) is Senate's favorite thing to do from morning to night. Sliding into home! Running around the bases.
Another field trip-this one to the County Shed in West Bend to see all the big trucks. In front of the salt pile with buddy Landon. He loved playing in the big scoop-especially with the hook. More fun on the big trucks.
Having a "whale" of a time in my pool from Auntie Amy and Uncle Peter! Washing the tires on the van for Daddy. Enjoying the EAA air show from across the street at the Outlet Mall with Gma and Gpa H.

Spelling the letters in "Wienermobile" at the County Fair-he just loves identifying letters, spelling things he sees, counting, and he even knows some letter sounds now!

Milking a pretend cow with Grandma Schmidt and looking at real cows at the County Fair. More cow fun with cousin Rylie. We really enjoyed the Oscar Meyer area at the Fair-he loved his wiener whistle prize for getting his picture taken behind the hot dog cut out thing. With Grandma and Grandpa Schmidt at the fair.

kids say the darndest things!

I went into work for a few hours this morning and when I got home it was like 11:30. I made myself a bowl of Cheerios and Senate asked for cheese crackers. The conversation went like this: Me: "Cheese crackers like goldfish crackers?" Senate: "No" Me: "Ritz crackers with cheese on them?" Senate: "No, cheese nipples like Uncle Peter had." Me (laughing while getting the box of Cheese Nips out of the pantry: "You mean these Senate?" Senate: "Yeah, Cheese Nipples." I asked him 5 or so minutes later to sit on the couch and snuggle with me and he said, "No, Mama, I just eating nipples." Kids really keep life interesting, and they truly do say the darndest things. :)

The end to a VERY busy day!

After the field trip, we traveled to Waukesha to meet Todd, Amy, Landon, and Blake at a waterpark followed by a visit to Pump it Up bouncy place in Brookfield. It was a busy but fun-filled day! Senate could climb up this wall to get to the slides all by himself, and after a few times he was really fast too!

Helicopter Pilot!

The day after returning home from Minnesota, we went on a field trip to the airport and National Guard, and Senate got to see airplanes and helicopters up close, as well as ride in them. He had a great time!

minnesota trip

The Minnesota Zoo There was a cool sandy area where the kids could pretend to dig up dinosaur bones-Senate enjoyed himself there. Senate's fun to take to the zoo-he talks to the animals-here he was saying "hi buffalo!" Every zoo trip we go on, we pick out a stuffed animal to remember that particular trip. This time we bought a komodo dragon. Fun on the Nickelodeon rides at the Mall of America! Legoland Dinosaurs-very cool! His favorite ride-Diego's Rescue Rider He chose the camel to ride on the carousel.
Ben took a week off in August but ended up having to attend a board meeting for one of his clients in Minneapolis, so we made it a family trip and Senate and I went along. We left Monday night and returned Wednesday early evening. We went to the Mall of America and to the zoo. It was a lot of driving, but also a lot of fun.

movin' on up

We continued moving Senate from the nursery to his new "big boy" room today. His bed is in, sheets are washed and on, toy shelf has been assembled, all clothes are in the closet/dresser. Now we just need to hang the curtain rod and valence, put up the sports wall decals, and finish moving his toys and books in. I need to figure out how to add pictures to my posts, and when I do I will show you the new room. It was supersweet watching Senate help Ben pound the nails to put together the toy shelf. He really is getting to be such a big boy. I just love him more every day and am more and more amazed by what he says and does!

Giving it a whirl!

My friend Kari just sent me a link to her blog and I read through it thinking it was kind of cool-especially since they have out of state relatives who don't get to participate in the everyday happenings of their lives. I went to bed thinking "that's cool but I would never have time to keep it up." I woke up deciding that we too have some out of state relatives, and others we just don't get to see as much as we'd like to, so I thought it may be cool to give a blog a try as well. I'm still not sure I'll have the time to keep it up, but I'll give it a whirl!
